President’s Report
I realize not much time has passed since the fall report, but wanted to wish
you all happy holidays and to thank our members for their support in 2009. This
year has been difficult for a lot of people and that’s why we want to sincerely
thank all of you who continue to support our animals. It may sound cliché, but we
really could never do it without you.
As a reminder, the shelter will be closed December 24th, 25th, and 26th. Normally
we are closed on Wednesday’s; however, we will have normal hours of operation on
Wednesday, December 23rd. In addition to the Christmas closing, we will be closed
January 1st, in observance of New Years Day. Please check with the shelter directly
for our satellite holiday hours. If you are thinking of getting a pet as a gift,
may we suggest a stuffed animal along with a gift certificate from the Humane Society.
Sadly, more often that not pets that have been purchased as gifts, are returned
to us. Rest assured we want to see our charges get new and loving homes, but feel
bad when they are returned.
The holiday season is such a busy time that we sometimes overlook what is really
important. My holiday wish is for all of us to slow down a bit and take a cue from
our pets. Keep focused on what truly has purpose in your life and make an effort
to nurture it. Our pet’s main focus is on us and I’m sure you’ll agree they nurture
the relationship they have with us constantly. The concept is simple, but I know
personally I could do better and what a perfect time to try and do so. Lets all
try to just make a more Humane Society.
