Volunteers
Our volunteers are a critical part of our programs and our success. The volunteers
at our shelter work directly with the animals or serve during special events such
as the Mutt Strut at Hoover Park or at sites during the Pond & Waterfall Tour. Our
volunteers also assist us in continuing our educational presentations in local schools
and our pet therapy programs in area nursing homes. It is impossible to express
how important the volunteers are to our continued work.
Volunteers under the age of 18 must have their parent/legal guardian sign a
waiver prior to them volunteering. Volunteers under the age of 16 must be
accompanied by a parent/legal guardian while volunteering at the shelter.
In 2007, Linda Berg, Board Secretary volunteered to take over as a Volunteer Coordinator
for the shelter. She has volunteered to organize a large part of our Nursing Home
and Educational Programs. With this she has been successful in bringing the Stark
County Humane Society to the Canton Civic Center for the Paws & Reflect reception
to the Canton Cultural Center.
