Our Adoption Policies

Cat & Kitten Humane Society Adoption Fees

  • Over 10 yrs. of age - $50
  • 9 - 10 yrs. of age (spayed/neutered) - $65
  • 6 - 8 yrs. of age (spayed/neutered) - $75
  • 3 - 5 yrs. of age (spayed/neutered) - $85
  • 7 mos. - 2 yrs. of age (spayed/neutered) - $90
  • 8 wks. - 6 mos. of age (spayed/neutered) - $100

Dog & Puppy Humane Society Adoption Fees

  • Over 10 yrs. of age - $50*
  • 9 - 10 yrs. of age (spayed/neutered) - $65*
  • 6 - 8 yrs. of age (spayed/neutered) - $75*
  • 3 - 5 yrs. of age (spayed/neutered) - $85*
  • 7 mos. - 2 yrs. of age (spayed/neutered) - $90*
  • 8 wks. - 6 mos. of age (spayed/neutered) - $100*

*Note: All Stark County residents must purchase a dog license for $14.75 with adoption of a dog or puppy.

Vaccinations

All animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and dewormed. If old enough, canines will also receive a heartworm test, and all eligible animals will receive a rabies vaccine.

Adopters will receive a free exam within two weeks of adoption at participating local veterinary hospitals—we encourage all adopters to take advantage of this offer.

We offer a twenty-four (24) hour hold on animals for a $10 nonrefundable hold fee per animal. This fee will be applied toward the humane society adoption fee upon completion of the adoption.

Return to Owners

These fees will vary depending on the services provided to the animal:

Return to Owner (No vaccines / boarding only):
$20 if picked up within two (2) days; each additional day is $10. Our Medical Team will determine if any medical expenses will be charged.

Return to Owner (Vaccines given):
$30 if picked up within three (3) days; each additional day is $10.

Return to Owner (Vaccines given and spayed/neutered):
$60 if the animal is claimed within four (4) to seven (7) days of arrival. We will also microchip the animal if the owner allows.

Any animal claimed after seven (7) days will be subject to the regular humane society adoption fee(s).

The shelter does not accept personal checks for animal adoptions. Payment may be made by cash or credit card only.
